Why study?

Data protection doesn't have to be a dry subject.

An important component of comprehensive data protection management is raising awareness among employees. This is best achieved through regularly conducted data protection training, because data protection is not determined by guidelines but by the daily work of every individual.

The legal basis Training and awareness-raising measures are an important means for implementing and demonstrating appropriate data protection measures; in a DSB commissioned by Art. 39(1)(b) GDPR explicitly mentions the awareness-raising and training of the involved employees as part of its monitoring tasks.
Learning means repeating

We recommend a first-time training as a face-to-face session or webinar, followed by e-learning for new employees and regular refresher training with current focus areas. This way, the knowledge remains up to date and the certification is complete.

The formats

You decide: in-person, webinar or e-learning

In-person training

On-site in your company: interactive, with case studies and always up-to-date topics relevant to your team. The first choice for initial training and for areas with sensitive data.

The content

What your employees know after the data protection training

At its core, the goal is to build a fundamental understanding of data protection. To do this, we first provide the necessary basic knowledge in a clear and practical way, using examples from everyday work life.

  • Why there is data protection and what it actually protects
  • Which personal data may be processed at all
  • Which principles must be observed and who is responsible
  • What to keep in mind in everyday work
  • What a data breach is and what to do next
  • What rights affected individuals have and how to recognize them
  • When personal data may leave the EU (transfer to a third country)
Reciprocal training

Knowledge only sticks if it is refreshed.

Data protection must be regularly trained. In our refresher training sessions, we refresh the basic knowledge and, in consultation with you, focus on selected key areas or in-depth topics. These include, among other things, the following points.

  • „Photos & GDPR“ – especially event photography
  • Everything about order processing management
  • Data transfer to third countries
  • Data privacy incidents and the criticality of the 72-hour deadline
  • Rights of affected persons and how to recognize them
  • Cyberattacks – especially since the sharp increase in recent months

Frequently asked questions about data protection training

Is data privacy training for employees mandatory?

The GDPR does not specifically mention the word „training“ as a duty, but requires that employees process personal data only on instructions (Article 29, Article 32(4) GDPR), and explicitly lists awareness raising and training of employees as one of the tasks of the data protection officer (Article 39(1)(b) GDPR). In addition, there is a duty of accountability under Article 5(2) GDPR. Documented training and awareness raising measures can be part of the organizational measures and their documentation.

How often should employees be trained in data protection?

The GDPR does not specify a fixed frequency. Initial training upon entry into the company and regular refresher training thereafter have proven to be effective. More frequent training when employees process particularly sensitive data or when processes and legal regulations change.

How much does a data protection training cost?

This depends on the format, the number of participants, and the level of individualization. To keep costs under control, we recommend a mix of in-person training, webinars, and e-learning. After a free initial consultation, you will receive an individual offer for your data protection training.

Which format is the right one for our company?

In principle, it is advisable to conduct the first data protection training as a face-to-face training or at least as a webinar; this is where most questions arise. For new employees, employees working from home, and anyone who missed the appointment, e-learning is the flexible addition.

Can we integrate the training into our own learning management system (LMS)?

Yes. We offer a white-label version of our proven privacy course: with your company logo, corporate colors, and customized content, if desired. You receive the training as an MP4 video that can be easily integrated into all common LMS systems. This makes the privacy training feel like it came straight from your own office.

Will we receive a certificate of completion of the training?

In e-learning, learning progress is documented; participants review and reinforce their knowledge through tests. The documentation is also available for in-person training and webinars; you will need it to fulfill your accountability obligations to the supervisory authority.
