EU Representative according to GDPR
Your company doesn’t have an office (legal entity) on the territory of the European Union? Yet it provides products and services to the people in the EU and/or systematically monitors their behavior (either by own initiative or on behalf of a third party)? Then the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules apply to you and you must apoint a representative in the EU. By appointing us as your EU representative you will benefit from the experience we have gathered over more than 15 years in the data protection field, knowledge of European data protection jurisdiction and flat rate monthly offer. Through our network we communicate efficiently with the “data subjects” (i.e. an identified or identifiable natural person) and cooperate effectively with the relevant data protection supervisory authorities.
Tasks of an EU representative?
The representative is the contact and addressee for EU supervisory authorities and persons in the EU whose personal data have been or will be processed by the company. The company must cooperate with the supervisory authorities in the performance of their duties and provide them with the information necessary for the performance of their duties as part of supervisory investigations. For this purpose, the representative must maintain a separate processing directory for the company. He is not liable for any breaches of data protection by the company.
The EU representative serves as the main contact person for anything concerning the company’s processing of personal data under the GDPR
What’s the difference between EU representative and external data protection officer?
they have very different parts to play within an organization.
- A Data Protection Officer (DPO) is the person designated, where applicable, to facilitate and assess a company’s compliance with the provisions of the GDPR.
- An EU Representative is the person designated, where applicable, to represent companies that are not based in the EU regarding their obligations under the GDPR.
